15 years behind bars for Lindbergh Alexander Clarke

Lindbergh Clarke

Twenty-one year old Lindbergh Alexander Clarke is tonight serving the first night of a fifteen-year stretch at the Belize Central Prison, after being found guilty of three firearm-related offences.  This evening, he appeared before Magistrate Hettie Mae-Stewart in the presence of attorney Ellis Arnold.  Clarke was busted on July fourteenth, 2012 at around one a.m., whilst on Central American Boulevard when he was seen tossing an object into a nearby drain.  A search of the area yielded a black nine millimeter firearm with three live rounds of nine millimeter ammo, as well as two, point three-eighty rounds of ammunition.  In court detective constable Adrian Lopez testified that he and other GSU personnel were on mobile patrol on Central American Boulevard when he saw Clarke riding a bicycle up-stop.  Upon pursuing him, Lopez observed Clarke tossing the object.  In his defense, Clarke told the court that he and another man were both riding in the area and when they saw the officers the other person threw the weapon into a nearby drain and sped off.  That individual was never caught.  Clarke was found guilty of kept firearm without a gun license, as well as two counts of kept ammunition without a gun license.  For each offense he was imposed a three to five-year sentence.  Those sentences are to run concurrently; therefore he will only serve five years in prison.  That sentence, however, will be appealed.
