Sherman Rodney arraigned for escape
Sherman Rodney is claiming he was beaten badly by the police and had to be hospitalized. And while the cops say he escaped from the K.H.M.H., Rodney says he walked out because he was not booked. That is what he told News Five on Monday night, adding that he made a report to the Office of the Ombudsman before handing himself in to police. But in court this morning, he was arraigned for a single count of escape before Magistrate Dale Cayetano. Rodney saw no plea taken since the prosecutor told the court that the matter is a hybrid one and that while he will be tried summarily, no charges were being taken at this time. When his status was questioned, the court was informed that Rodney is still in police custody, as he is being investigated for a possible involvement in another criminal matter. Rodney is accused of escaping from lawful custody last week Thursday, February twentieth, while under guard at the KHMH. Police say Rodney was detained pending a burglary investigation and was on remand since bail was denied.
