Bus driver killed in freak accident
A bus driver made a leap for safety but ended up dead after he landed on his head. The bizarre tragedy occurred around five on Monday evening on the Canada Hill Road nine miles outside of Dangriga. According to police, Luis Sanchez was on his way to pick up a group of students from the Agriculture and Natural Resource Institute when they believe he lost control of the bus. It appears Sanchez jumped out as the vehicle headed down an embankment. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered the driver’s motionless body about fifteen yards behind the vehicle, which had come to rest after crashing into a tree. Sanchez had sustained serious head and body injuries and died on the spot. Police believe at the time of the accident, Sanchez was travelling alone. He was a resident of Alta Vista Village in the Stann Creek District.
