Independence Police uncover illegal logging operation
An illegal logging operation in South Stann Creek, carried out by a group of five men, has been uncovered by Independence police. On Wednesday, shortly after eleven p.m., officers visited an area in the Maya Mountain Forest Reserve where they busted thirty-eight-year-old Pablo Ramirez, Guatemalan national twenty-five year old Ernesto Choc, thirty-four-year-old Martin Coc, eighteen year old Javier Coc, all of Trio Village, as well as twenty-six year old Shane Coleman of Independence Village on a tractor which was transporting fifteen hundred board feet of Rosewood. All five men have been detained pending charges of illegal logging and their tractor impounded at the Independence Police Station.
