Three sexual assault cases dismissed in Supreme Court
Charges against three alleged sex offenders from the Cayo district were today dismissed in the Supreme Court. The first case involves twenty-nine year old Jason Warrior, charged with the February, 2003 rape of a sixteen year old girl. When Warrior appeared before Justice Adolph Lucas this morning for trial, he was instead discharged because the victim is in the U.S. and it is not known when or if she will be back.
The unavailability of the victim is also the reason why charges were dropped against Anthony Mutrie Junior. Mutrie is accused of the unlawful carnal knowledge of a thirteen year old, but prosecutors have been unable to locate the victim and her family to continue the case against him.
And finally, when twenty-one year old Jordi Rudon appeared in the Supreme Court this morning, it was a motion put forward by the D.P.P.’s office that allowed him to walk out a free man. According to court reports, prosecutor Audrey Matura had no choice but to enter the nolle prosequi motion as the victim and his parents are no longer seeking any further action against Rudon for the attempted sodomy charges. The case against Rudon arose out of an incident in Cayo on February twenty-fourth, 2004, when a thirteen year old boy reported to police that he was going to use an outdoor latrine when Rudon covered his mouth, pulled down his pants, and attempted to sodomise him. The charges against all three men can be re-filed in the future if the D.P.P.’s office sees it fit to do so.
