Vista Dance Studio holds annual recital

Story PictureIf you are in the mood for some lively music, high stepping, and maybe even some leaps and turns, then get your tickets now for a special show on Sunday. No, it’s not River Dance … it’s Vista Dance, featuring brand new choreography from some local and imported talent. News Five spoke with Director Sistie Fairweather Harmes about the annual recital at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts.

Sistie Fairweather Harmes, Dir., Vista Dance Company
?My school is in Vista Del Mar in Ladyville. This is our ninth year. We have students from four years upwards. The ones I started with when I first started are now big girls with long legs so we need to be performing at the Bliss Institute. We need all the space we can get.?

?We have five different choreographers showing dances, so the programme will be really varied. We have two choreographers from the United States, and then we have Rosita Balthazar from the Belize National Dance Company, and Christie Medina who is an emerging choreographer, and I of course have done a lot of the choreography. So it should be a well rounded programme, something for everyone.?

Tickets for Sunday night’s show, which begins at six, are available at the Bliss and Vista Dance Studio in Ladyville. Over the coming months, the dance company is also embarking on a brand new collaboration with dance teachers Althea Seeley and Rosita Balthazar to produce a Nutcracker Ballet adapted to Belize for Christmas.
