Forensic evidence breaks case in Corozal murder
The efforts of Corozal cops and their Chetumal counterparts investigating last week’s murder in San Joaquin Village have produced enough evidence to make two arrests. According to police, twenty-seven year old Edmund Crawford Sanka of Carolina Village and twenty-five year old William Wade of Calcutta Village were arrested in connection with the murder of Chinese businessman thirty-four year Ji Chen Li better known as “Sammy”. Both men appeared in Corozal’s Magistrate Court earlier today where they were formally charged with the crime. Sanka and Wade were then remanded to Hattieville Prison until their next court date. We understand investigating officers got a break in the case when Mexican experts and local Scenes of Crimes personnel analysed forensic evidence to tie the accused men to the crime. Sammy Li was fatally shot in the face by two masked and armed gunmen around nine-thirty on Wednesday night during a robbery inside his store. In solidarity with his family and all the other Chinese victims of violence, today Chinese businesses across the country were closed.
