Ex-police officer sentenced to 12 years for rape
Meanwhile, a police officer found guilty of rape has been sentenced to spend the next twelve years behind bars. After mitigation pleas from his attorney and former superior officers, this morning Evan Reynolds was ordered to stand to hear his fate. Justice Adolph Lucas told the convicted man, “Mr. Reynolds you slip, you mek all yuh good character and yuh service gone. I sentence you to twelve years imprisonment on the first count and twelve years imprisonment on the second count.”
The sentences are to run concurrently, which means that instead of twenty-four years, the accused will only spend twelve in jail. Reynolds was arrested and charged with rape after a twelve year old girl reported to police that between November 2003 and February 2004 Reynolds had sex with her against her will.
