Budget will be presented tomorrow

In a preview to Friday’s budget presentation the National Economic Council yesterday heard from the Financial Secretary and Governor of the Central Bank. According to a release from the Government Press Office, Governor Sydney Campbell reported that real G.D.P. growth for 2005 will come in at around three point one percent. Unemployment stood at eleven percent while inflation rose from three point one to three point seven percent, largely due to the increase in fuel prices. For her part Dr. Carla Barnett told the gathering that the overall fiscal deficit was reduced from an unsustainable eight percent in 2004/2005 to a less unsustainable three point nine percent in 2005/2006. The target deficit of the revised budget was three point six percent. Following tomorrow’s presentation, the budget will be debated on Thursday and Friday of next week.
