Grenades found in Belize City
In Belize City, police continue to investigate the disturbing discovery of two hand grenades in an abandoned lot. Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid declined to identify the area where the hand-held explosives were found, citing the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation. Along with the grenades, police also recovered a nine millimetre pistol. It is believed the weapons were acquired across the border in Guatemala, but just who imported them or for what purpose, is still not clear. During a weapons sweep over the past two weeks, police report they have confiscated a dozen firearms through tips from the public.
