Youth escapes death when gun jams
The only reason a Belize City man is alive tonight is because the gun the shooter used jammed. According to police, around three-thirty on Saturday afternoon, twenty-two year old Kareem Wright was standing at the corner of King Street and Euphrates Avenue when someone walked up to him, pushed him down, and then stood over him with a loaded weapon. But when Wright’s attacker pulled the trigger, the gun snapped. Wright says he used the golden opportunity to escape but the gunman followed him and this time fired several shots. When the dust cleared Wright had been shot four times: three to his lower back and once in the upper left arm. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he remains admitted to ward in a serious but stable condition. Up to news time tonight, no arrests had been made in connection to this incident.
