Police crack murder case of Jose Chavarria
Late this evening police escorted a man to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he was formally arraigned for a murder committed in 2002. According to police, thirty-one year old Arthur Young is the man who shot and killed twenty-two year old Jose Chavarria on August fifth, 2002, as he was riding his bike on West Canal between Prince and King streets. Police sources indicate tonight that Young was a prime suspect in the case, but fled to the United States shortly after the shooting and had just recently returned home. This is the second time this week that police have made arrests in connection with a murder case more than three years old. On Monday, police charged Kenroy Tillett for the September 2001 murder of Clint Geban.
