Hattieville man charged for
A traffic officer has been arrested and charged for the seldom prosecuted offence of attempting an unnatural crime. Because the charge is an indictable offence to be tried in the Supreme Court, no plea was taken from thirty-two year old Albert Hendy when he appeared today before Magistrate Margaret McKenzie. The Hattieville resident was then remanded to prison until February twenty-eighth. The charge against Hendy arose out of an incident in Belize City on Tuesday in which an eighteen year old man reported that he was at his place of work when Hendy entered the premises and asked for a glass of water. According to the teen, as he was fulfilling the request, Hendy grabbed him from behind, choking him and demanding that he take his pants off and lie down on the floor. A struggle ensued during which the victim managed to get hold of a machete. With the help of his boss, the young man managed to apprehend Hendy and hold him at bay until the police arrived to take him into custody.
