Thief busted trying to pawn jewellery to owner
If there was ever a category for stupid things criminals do, this next case would go to the top of the list. A Belize City man was arrested and charged this week after he tried to pawn off stolen goods … to their rightful owner. According to court reports, last August, an assortment of jewellery was stolen from Camille Sabido’s car while it was parked in her yard in the Belama area. But then last week Saturday, twenty-two year old Leonard Young walked into J.E.C. Pawn Shop on Youth for the Future Drive to pawn Sabido’s chain and dolphin pendant. The only problem is that Sabido works at J.E.C. as a Supervisor. As soon as she spotted her property, she called the cops and Young was soon in police custody. This morning Young pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and was fined seven hundred and fifty dollars. He has until the end of March to pay the fine.
