Security guard survives latest city shooting
A shooting near the Belcan Bridge in Belize City has left a security guard recovering from gunshot wounds. News Five visited with the victim this afternoon at the K.H.M.H.

This afternoon it was encouraging to see fifty-eight year old Thomas Gomez sit up in bed. When we arrived, Gomez was preparing to move to the surgical ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he will undergo surgery for gunshot wounds to his back.
Tonight Belize City police are still looking for the young man who shot the security guard in his upper back. Gomez was working as a security guard for Advanced Advertising around four this morning when he came upon five young men who had broken into a white pickup truck parked on the compound.

?I went outside about four o?clock and I saw a truck with some men and two of them grabbed me. Inside the truck there were three more. They had a gun and put it in my face. I tried to get away by bending my head; that was when one of them shot me in the back of my neck. I then ran away.?
Gomez says two of the assailants entered the compound on bicycles and three of them were on foot.
Up to news time, no arrests had been made in connection with this incident.
