Mother says stabbing is result of longstanding dispute

Rosa Perez

According to Perez, there has been a longstanding dispute between her daughter and her alleged attacker. They were bound over the peace some time ago, but it was a misunderstanding between their children that led to the violence. Reyes recounted the incident and pleaded for justice because she says her daughter would have been killed, were it not for the timely intervention of friends and witnesses.

Rosa Perez, Mother of Stabbing Victim (Translated)

“My daughter says that Canul’s son told my seven year old granddaughter that he will punch her in the mouth. So Lorena told the boy that if my kids do anything to you, he should inform her so that can deal with it. That’s when Canul’s son began cursing her. She says she did not pay any attention to him and he left. But it appears that the child told his mother something, I don’t know what it was, but she came to the shop with the intention to kill my daughter. She stabbed her really bad in the back as she was working. What I want is for her to pay for what she did because it is unjust. She always insulted my daughter and in the past they had a problem. It was resolved before the courts and I thought it ended there. But what happened yesterday, I feel that she came with the decision to kill my daughter because that’s what she came to do. It wasn’t that she came to fight or to confront her, but she came to kill my daughter. If something worse happens to my daughter, she is the one responsible for everything because she could have discussed it with my daughter, not to just kill her.”
