Travelling St. Lucians exhibit at Princess
Twelve years ago Arthur Samuel Richardson and his two children left their native country of St. Lucia to embark on a journey through Latin America. Today the Richardsons are in Belize on the final leg of their odyssey before returning home. The trip has been financially sustained by the proceeds from exhibitions the family holds … like the display currently on in the lobby of the Princess Hotel. The show highlights African history and culture and is being held to commemorate Black History Month.
Arthur Samuel Richardson, Artist
?It is a contribution for the entire black race. We make a contribution to show what we have to offer, and it?s consciousness and that consciousness we know that it will help develop lots of people in the fields of arts.?
Jacqueline Woods
?Besides your reading material, what else do you have on display??
Arthur Samuel Richardson, Artist
?We have wood carvings, we having paintings, we have lots of variety of creation and most of all, it is all original, and the jewellery, we assembly them ourselves.?
The Richardson children, age twenty-two and twenty-four, say they were home-schooled during the journey and very much appreciate the further education they received during their travels. The family will depart Belize over the weekend.
