Commissioner says corruption is a plague in the lands department

While this dispute has the appearance of being resolved, it points to gross negligence in the Lands Department. Those are the words of Commissioner of Lands Wilbert Vallejos, who went further to state that corruption is a plague in the department.

“It’s a plague that has been damaging the ministry for years and the Ministry of Natural Resources can only deal with delinquent officers when it is supported by the public service. So many times we have to wait on the Ministry of Public Service for actions to be taken against those officers. We have reported and we have provided the evidence. It is a process unfortunately and we just have to wait until a decision is made, but meanwhile the officers are with us.”
