Belizean American producer in country to promote new film
Another visitor is Belizean-American Artist and Producer, Faron Smith, who is here promoting his new film, “States.” Smith, who is also the producer of the “True Belizean Channel” in the U.S. has produced several Belizean films. “States” depicts a Belizean immigrant who headed to the U.S.A. with dreams of becoming rich. Smith spoke to News Five today about his new film and its entry into the Belize International Film Festival in July.
Faron Smith, Producer
“We are going to premiere it in Belize. This is the first stop; it’s gonna be in the Belize Film Festival July sixteenth to the twenty-first. We’re gonna be here on the last day so everybody come out and watch ih wahn be great right.”
Duane Moody
“Tell us about the movie and putting it together and how long of course you have been working with producing films, songs, etc.”
Faron Smith
“I’ve been in entertainment since I was five years old, I went to Grace Primary and that’s where I learnt a lot of stuff that I still use today. As far as film, we’ve been doing it for seven maybe eight years. We started off with music videos and maybe about four years ago we did our first feature film called Ditch Day. Ditch Day is a Belizean movie per say but it was a comedy more geared towards international audience but States is a different thing. States is more like telling a story in L.A., but about the Belizean community in L.A. How life is and just certain misconceptions that people get when they move from Belize for the first time and go to the states, you know.”
