Mark Conorquie charged for manslaughter of cyclist
It was busy in the courts today. And a man charged with Manslaughter by Negligence is out on bail of five thousand dollars. The traffic accident for which forty year old Mark Conorquie is charged occurred between miles nineteen and twenty on the Northern Highway. It claimed the life of fifty-six year old Maurice Daniel Sedasey, a construction worker of Sand Hill Village. Sedacey was reportedly riding a bicycle on the highway on Monday afternoon when he was struck from behind by a green Dodge Ram pick-up. He died at the scene. Conorquie, who was represented by attorney, Michelle Chebat, appeared before Magistrate Aretha Ford and was read three charges: Manslaughter by Negligence; Causing Death by Careless Conduct; and Driving without Due Care and Attention. Conorquie is due back in court on September seventh. Sedacey was riding towards his home, some half a mile away when he was knocked down. An eyewitness who was sitting at a nearby bus shed said she saw Sedacey coming towards her. She claims she was just about to hail him when he was hit. In the impact, Conorquie was flung into the air, landed on his head and died.
