Concert promoter stuck with counterfeit currency
You met him on Friday’s newscast as he was hyping the weekend’s tribute to Bob Marley, but today one local concert promoter is singing a different tune: the bluenote blues.
Janelle Chanona, Reporting
The two hundred dollar bills are almost identical … front and back, to the point where it?s easy to see how someone working in low light could be fooled. But upon closer inspection, the most obvious difference between the bills appears in the left corner. The silver birds have been painted on and cover the serial numbers and flower. And if you look closely, the silver security thread is too bright and even a little crooked. The discrepancy is even more obvious when compared to all the security features of a real hundred dollar bill.
For local concert promoter Joel Robinson, the fake bill has hit him right where it hurts.

?It really got me?I di try do something positive as a young man and I di try show other young man they could do the same thing, but when things like this happen to you it bring you down. But with me, I nah bring me down, I get stronger and I wah do more.?
Robinson says despite the funny money, his Bob Marley tribute concert was a success.

?Me, myself was surprised at the turnout and the kind of people that I see out there and everybody enjoy themselves. When I rode the street today people meet me weh noh even know me and tell me, ?young man, dah show weh you put together perfect, when yuh wah do it again?? But you know I just feel a lee down because after all the work I put out, I would call them bald head people came around and still try dampen my show with the counterfeit money and thing. But I just want thank the people weh come with good vibes and support the show, support the train rides and everything, especially all my sponsors. I can?t call all deh names right now, but they know who they are.?
Robinson’s troubles may not be over as he has yet to closely examine all the currency taken in at the concert.
