8 year old missing; Mother says he was taken by her ex-husband
The mother of an eight year old student of a Presbyterian primary school in Belize City is tonight appealing that her son be returned home. Erica Bardalez today told News Five that her estranged husband, Jose Antonio Chacon took Richard Chacon on May twentieth purportedly for medical attention at a clinic in the city. Chacon, who is also a Honduran national, has not been seen since nor has Richard returned home. Erica, who has sole custody of the child, fears that Chacon has fled the country with Richard. The mother has since made a report to the police and continues her search for Richard.

“I am going around looking for my son because his father kidnapped him. His father took him and I need them to find him and return him to me wherever he is. I was in Honduras because I was sick and I went to see a doctor and left my son with his grandmother. It is from there that his father took him. He took him on the twentieth of May. His father only told the grandmother that he was taking my son to the clinic and since then, they have not returned. It’s now nine days without my son. I returned from Honduras on Monday night because I was in Honduras sick. I left Belize to Honduras on May fifth to seek medical attention and now I am searching for my son but to no avail. I believe he took my son to Honduras but I need him to return with my son.”
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Richard or Jose is asked to call the nearest police station or Bardalez at 625-5310.
