Gomez Alvarez’s body was discovered by a young child in a house at a farm in the outskirts of the village. Police report that Gomez Alvarez visited a neighbour and had a cup of coffee with her at about nine-thirty on Wednesday morning. At about four o’clock in the afternoon, her ten-year-old son discovered his body. Ten days ago, Gomez Alvarez was attacked and chopped twice on the left side of the face and four times on the left shoulder area. He was hospitalized and released but somebody wanted him dead.

“Yesterday sometime around five o’clock p.m., San Ignacio police visited a farm about a mile in the outskirts of Los Tambos village where the lifeless body of Oscar Alvarez, a Honduran national, twenty-seven years old, was found lying in a face up position dead. At the initial stage, police observe chop wounds to the left side of his head, face and shoulder. Investigation at this moment is that on the eighteenth of May, sometime in the evening, he was involved in an altercation with another male person, a Honduran national, whose name we do not know at this time and he sustained the said injuries. As a result, he was transported to the Western Regional hospital where he was kept for observation on the eighteenth and the nineteenth and was thereafter discharged. After his release from the hospital, he did not make any official report to the San Ignacio Police station or nay other station. At this present moment, the post mortem examination has been conducted in Belize City and we are treating this case as a murder investigation because of the post mortem results given to us by Doctor Estradabran.”

“Is there anything else that you can share with us in regards to the investigation? Have you contacted the family? What are they saying?”
Via Phone: Insp. Reymundo Reyes
“What we have done is because the person does not have any family in Belize. That is what we know. So the Honduran consulate was contacted and the relevant information was released to them so that they can get contact with the family in Honduras.”
