Family of Frank Robinson believes a third vehicle was involved in fatal accident
On Thursday afternoon, two vehicles collided on the George Price Highway. Customs officer, Frank Robinson perished on impact, while two others traveling with him in the government pickup truck were more fortunate sustaining injuries, not considered life-threatening. The fatal collision remains under investigation, but family members of Robinson believe that a third vehicle may have been involved. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports on the accident.

There are more questions than answers, following the tragic death of fifty-one-year-old Frank ‘Mango’ Robinson on Thursday evening, as his grieving family tries to understand what transpired along the stretch of road near mile two on the George Price Highway. Sometime after three o’clock, a dump truck driven by forty-eight-year-old Martin Burke of Trial Farm Village in Orange Walk collided into the driver’s side of a grey Isuzu D-Max carrying Robinson and two other customs officers. He died shortly after being extricated from the mangled wreck by fire service personnel, while his passenger, twenty-four year old Camira Brown, was bleeding from abrasions and injuries to the right knee.

The third officer, we are told, exited the vehicle and, in a state of shock, proceeded to the Customs and Excise Department on Caesar Ridge Road on foot. News Five spoke with Robinson’s brother who told us off record that he strongly suspects that another vehicle may have been involved in the accident and that his sibling was blindsided while attempting to turn into an adjacent lane. According to the family member, his brother, a customs boatman, is an experienced driver and has been transporting employees for the department to and from Corozal for many years. He suspects that a third vehicle traveling in the same direction may have been attempting to overtake when the dump truck presumably blocked his line of sight in the rearview mirror. While Burke has been served a notice of intended prosecution, there is no mention of the third passenger in today’s police report. Reporting for News Five, I am Isani Cayetano.
