Tourist dies on diving trip at the Blue Hole Natural Monument
A tourist collapsed and died while on a diving trip at the Blue Hole Natural Monument. The U.S. visitor, Larry Smith, was along a group of nineteen tourists who left from the Ramon’s Village dock. According to dive master, Marcus Alamina, of San Pedro, the trip started at about six-thirty on Thursday morning. On arrival at the Blue Hole, the group split in two to begin the dive at about ten in the morning. Two minutes into the dive, Alamina says he saw Smith trembling violently and experiencing breathing problems. His eyes were dilated and shortly after he passed away. Smith was transported to Half Moon Caye from where the Coast Guard transported his body to the K.H.M.H. A post mortem is to be performed to determine the cause of death.
