O.W. man suffering from mystery injuries

It’s bad enough when you’re laid up in the hospital with life threatening injuries. It’s even worse when you don’t know how you got them. Jacqueline Woods reports on a mystery confronting an Orange Walk family.

Forty-three year old Gilberto Pat lies in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital with a brain fracture, broken hand and a damaged lung. An emotional Eva Pat says she does not know what happened to her husband, but she believes someone is responsible for his injuries.

?The doctor says he has bad damage in his head and right now he have problems with his lungs; one is working, they have to put the tube to drain out the water now. And he has his hands broke, they operate him.?

Pat was found on June eighteenth around one a.m. lying unconscious in an ants nest near the Tower Hill Bridge in Orange Walk.

?In my mind, I say that somebody did it, because his hands cannot get broke just like that. His head has a big cut in his head and the back of his head have bad injuries. I think somebody did it or I don?t know… only God knows.?

?I just want, to the person mek him, if somebody did it, beat him or accident to see how he is suffering and all of us… we have small children.?

The Pat family is hoping that someone who knows what happened to their loved one to contact them at K.H.M.H. Jacqueline Woods for News Five.

The last time Pat saw her husband was around three o’clock on June seventeenth when he left the house to go to church. It was not until the following morning that police informed her that he was in the hospital. Pat says the doctors believe he will recover from his injuries, but it will be a long road back to good health.
