Booklet released on older women’s health
Today the National Council on Ageing launched a booklet highlighting a number of illnesses affecting the health of older women. The publication was released as part of activities observing Women’s Week. According to author Lindsey Chapman, a Challenges Worldwide volunteer from the United Kingdom, most of the information, which was accessed from the internet, identifies important health conditions that can occur as we grow older.

?I was amazed by my own lack of knowledge with things like breast cancer. I didn?t know that it would reduce your risk if you had children before age twenty-five. I never heard of that before. So I also learned a lot doing the booklet.?
?The actual issues included arthritis, breast-cancer, cancer to the reproductive system, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, hypertension, nutrition, menopause, osteoporosis, and there is a section on other health issues as well, which include things about prostate cancer.?
The booklet also includes a list of services available in the country that can help readers find help they may need. If you would like further information on the booklet, Older Women’s Health Issues, you can contact N.C.A.’s executive director, Lindy Jeffery, at telephone number 822-1546.
