WRH Food Vendors Evicted Because of Rat Infestation

Rats and snakes at the Western Regional Hospital….even the international media has been covering the scandalous state of affairs of the hospital. Today, it was about the hospital’s laundry found on the highway. But back to the rats…on Friday, you heard the Minister of Health pointing fingers at Hospital Administrator, Bernadette Seaver, and Regional Health Manager, Melinda Guerra. Well, the administration is passing the blame to four vendors, who sold food on the hospital compound. Today, two of the vendors relocated outside the hospital’s perimeter fence after they received letters of eviction due to the “rodent infestation” at the referral hospital.  The vendors are up in arms because according to Enfield Welcome, he has been selling food on the compound for eleven years.

“We didn’t get warning. They just come and says that we will have a meeting, which is okay. We always attend the meeting, whatsoever they have in there; so we cooperate with them. But it wasn’t a meeting, because we and the four vendors sit down and we say we will wait to attend the meeting. The Health Inspector came outside and said the meeting is about we have to move out of here. So I said sir, why? We have any problems? I mean tell us what is the problem for us to go out from here. He tell us no, it is from the C.E.O. and the health department and Mister John Saldivar because I have the paper that I can show you guys what they gave us after the media left us and gone. So the media didn’t see any document that they give to me when they were videoing me.”

“The document says that they give us today, which is Tuesday, to clear off the hospital grounds. So I said to them how you will just bring up things like that and chase us from here without no warning. So I think it is because of the rat that bite the child in the incubator; I think that’s the problem they are trying to use on us. And from I was here, which is eleven years this year, I haven’t seen a rat yet our section.”
