Taiwanese President Ma Ying-Jeou on Farewell Visit to Belize
Details were released this afternoon of the two-day visit of President Ma Ying-Jeou of the Republic of China which begins this Wednesday. The visit comes at the end of Ma’s presidency and is seen as a farewell tour. He arrives here from Guatemala. Now, due to a hectic schedule, the president is unable to visit other friendly countries, so the Prime Ministers of Saint Vincent, Ralph Gonsalves, Timothy Harris from Saint Kitts and Nevis as well as Doctor Kenny Anthony from Saint Lucia will also arrive in Belize for bilateral talks with Ma. A round table meeting will be held in the afternoon and a dinner later in the evening in honor of Prime Minister Barrow and those from the three visiting Eastern Caribbean states. On Thursday Ma’s schedule includes activities with the Taiwanese community and a visit to Altun Ha. He departs at noon.
