An Ecumenical Chapel is Inaugurated at K.H.M.H.
Built with Petrocaribe funds, a chapel was today inaugurated on the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital compound. It will be used by religious denominations across the board and according to hospital authorities, while it will serve as a place to offer comfort and consolation; it also helps those at the hospital who administer healthcare. Today, the Council of Churches, the Belize Evangelical Association, the Government of Belize and the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital officially opened its newly constructed ecumenical chapel on the institution compound on Princess Margaret Drive. The one hundred and fifty thousand dollar project started back in September of 2015 and was to be completed by December, but was instead inaugurated six months after breaking ground.

“This place is significant. As much as some people call it the chapel, we call it God’s House for God’s people, for God’s purpose. It is fitting that we are dedicating this chapel in this first week of the Easter season. On Sunday we sang joyfully and we preached how much Jesus by the power of God through the Holy Spirit can overcome the power of God and sin and give us life and life beyond this one. That’s what we celebrate here today. Even if we are to bring family here to grant them comfort and consolation, it is a reminder that after death—for those who died in Christ—there is life. And if we are to bring the sick and loved one to join with them in time of illness, it is a reminder that god is the source of life and healing and wellness.”
According to K.H.M.H. C.E.O. Doctor Adrian Coye, the new place of worship helps to provide a holistic approach to care at the institution—health-wise as well as spiritual.

So as we work as a team on the physical aspects of help often the social and spiritual needs fall to the wayside.”
