Arlie Petters Appointed Trinity Dean of Academic Affairs
Belizean born mathematical physicist Doctor Arlie Petters has been appointed to dean of academic affairs and associate vice provost for undergraduate education at Trinity College in North Carolina, U.S.A. Doctor Petters holds Trinity College appointments as a professor of math and physics, as well as an appointment at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business as a professor of business administration. Petters, who was born in Dangriga, has written four books and is in the process of preparing an upcoming textbook on finance. He succeeds Lee Baker effective July first and will serve through to June 2020. He founded the Petters Research Institute in 2005 as a way of giving back to Belize. The institute is a center of excellence in mathematics, science and technology, and fosters national development through entrepreneurship in these fields. He also served as chairman of the Council of Science Advisers for Belize from 2010 to 2013 and was named a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by the Queen of England.
