Guatemalan Parliamentarian Gets Hot Under the Collar in Congress
The death of thirteen year old Julio Alvarado Ruano was ventilated today in the Guatemalan Congress where the rhetoric went up notches. Congressman Oliviera Garcia claimed that Guatemalans have been robbed and assaulted by powers with whom Guatemala signed agreements that were never respected. He said they cannot speak about a border with Belize because they are claiming that territory which historically belongs to Guatemala. The Congressman then got all worked up:

Oliviera Garcia, Congressman, Guatemala [Translated]
“Miserable murderers fired upon a Guatemalan boy. A child that likely placed in the B.D.F. in danger and those of another country there that has always protected us. A child has rendered them ridiculous and stupid.”
Following the emotional debate, the congress approved a resolution to condemn the death of thirteen year old Julio Alvarado Ruano. The resolution rejects what it calls the murder of Alvarado and urges the government of Guatemala to find legal mechanisms that are more effective for dialogue and conciliation to strengthen good governance.
Thats how Belize HOR and senate should have passed a resolution to condemn Danny Conorquie death. Belize leaders, you are useless and undeserving of the tiles “honorable”.
Translation in English:
On the other side of the coin it is claimed that the little boy had been escorted out of that Belizean area before. More than likely the adults in his family had him committing crimes time and time again, including the use of fire arms against Belizean authorities. Yes, I know how the Guatemalans, my people, operate — they put their children to do dirty work for them. What a pity. I feel sorry for the little boy, not for his father. And what an ugly culture! That is why I changed it, and look to live in peace in Belize. Now, Belize is my nation!
Looks like the Guat congress still has good sense to resolve to find solutions. Sounds to me like they shut down this old dinosaur that still thinks and lives in the past when the average guatemelan and the elite in business there don’t even care-only the old politicians who have nothing else to do or hang on to. Too bad Channel 5 cut off where their Mr. President of congress shut him up when he started to rant.
Before it was for anyone it was for the original people; the Mayas and before that the land was for God.
Sit the heck down and shut the hell up! These bullies always only want to turn the hands of history back to where it is convenient.
Why did’t you tell the Brits that when they were in control of Belize.
Guatemalans claim Belize is their “inheritance” from Spain. But I say my country
is our “inheritance” from God. And what God put together let no man tear apart.
