Major discrepancies found in purchases by K.H.M.H.
Documents made available to News Five suggest that there are major discrepancies in the prices of several medications purchased by the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, one of the points of contention over which doctors at the K.H.M.H. have been on a go slow. On Wednesday the doctors initiated a go slow and called for the removal of the Director of Finance and the Chairman of the Board of the K.H.M.H. over the allegations. This issue came to light last Friday and it is known that the Contractor General is investigating at least nineteen contracts totaling one point six million dollars. While Peter Allen, C.E.O. at the Ministry of Health, is saying there is nothing questionable, a look at some of the documents show the following: Tax Invoice number 40915 from M Union Distribution of Bachelors Avenue has been selling to G.O.B. Dobutamine at a unit price of twenty-five dollars, but when the G.O.B. acquired the same medication from Antonio de la Fuente, it paid triple the price at seventy-one dollars each.
In another instance hydralazine were purchased from Bradley’s Imports at eleven dollars and fifty four cents and the same medication when was purchased from the de la Fuente in Orange Walk, the government paid sixty-nine dollars per unit. In the case of dopamine, the K.H.M.H. paid three dollars seventy five cents per unit price from M Union Distribution but it paid De la Fuente a whopping seventy one dollar each. This is only the tip of the iceberg. And if you are wondering who owns the De la Fuente pharmacy, you need not lookfar. We know he is well connected politically and is related to the Orange Walk Mayor.
