Miss Belize Universe, Rebecca Rath, Flies the Flag in Philippines

On Thursday morning, our Miss Belize Universe will be taking part in the preliminary events of the sixty-fifth Miss Universe pageant. In the prelims, Rebecca Rathand the other contestants will be showcasing their swimsuit, evening gown and national costume to bid for a spot in the top twelve. These preliminaries will be carried live on the Miss Universe App and the official Facebook page. The contestants have been in rehearsals since the start of the week and today our Queen got a chance to rest and connect with her supporters online. This morning, Rebecca participated in a live chat via a Miss Universe fan page on Facebook. She took questions from friends and fans online and gave a quick update on what the experience has been like so far. We take a look at a portion of that live chat courtesy Miss Universe Fanatic:

“Yeah! We’ve been having a lot of fun here in the Philippines. I love the Philippines. We have been having so much fun and I am telling you – the people here are so, so nice. They make me feel like I am already Ms Universe. They are so sweet and everywhere you go they really help you with anything that you need and so I would always recommend the Philippines to anyone.  I was a little bit nervous but when I walked into the room, all the judges were so, so nice and I felt relaxed almost instantly. So, hopefully that is good thing and everything works out for tomorrow.   I workedvery hard on my evening gown and my swimsuit and everything that we’re going to be using for the preliminaries and live telecast. And so, we are working very hard in making sure you guys get a good show and hopefully the winner shines in prelims tomorrow.   What will go on in the preliminaries? Well, it’s basically each contestant has to do a walk for their introduction and then a swimsuit walk and then evening gown and after that everyone change into their national costume and they do a show. Now based on the interviews today and preliminaries tomorrow, then they choose their top twelve and from there you have your top twelve, so it’s getting real guys. It’s getting real; the fun and games are over.  Why should I be the next Miss Universe? Well, you know I am very new to pageants, actually. I’m not a pageant girl. I have played sports all my life and so I am an athlete. So, I decided to trade in my volleyball boots for high heels, and so before Ms Belize, I really rarely wore high heels. So, I had to get used to them and it was awful. But now I am glad that I can wear them for hours and hours at a time. But it’s good. It’s a good experience.  I have to say thank you to Belize. They have really been supporting me since the day I won Ms Belize. They have my back. They have been voting every day; sharing every post and really keeping me up and encouraging me and giving me that motivation that I need throughout this competition. And all my other fans from all over the world as well that see something in me.”
