Elodio Aragon Jr. is Pro-ICJ
We are less than a year away from deciding whether or not the take the Belize/Guatemala Dispute to the International Court of Justice for resolution. On April tenth, 2019, the majority of the tens of thousands of eligible voters will either authorize or restrain the Government on taking the territorial, maritime, and insular dispute to the I.C.J. It’s no secret that many Cabinet Ministers are all for the I.C.J. including Orange Walk East Representative, Elodio Aragon Junior.

“This going to the I.C.J. is not a political issue. This is not UDP/PUP stuff. I believe this is a national issue and I think every Belizean must educate themselves, must become informed so that they are able to do an educated decision when the times comes. I know we are going to a referendum sometime I think the tenth of April next year so I ask every Belizean to be educated on the matter. It is not something to be looked at politically. I certainly do not look at it politically. This is greater than any political party. This is about the nation of Belize and its people. I believe that we have to educate ourselves. I believe personably that we should go to the ICJ. That is my personal opinion. I believe that every citizen of this country have to make up their minds if they are for it or not for it. The government is the employee of the people of the Belize and whatever the people of Belize will say at the end of the day in terms of the referendum that will be done.”
