Applications Available for Miss Scuba Belize 2019

Back in November of 2018, Belizean beauty Monique Lamb represented the Jewel for the first time in the Miss Scuba International Pageant held in Malaysia. The unique pageant seeks to promote the marine ecosystem and was established in 2011 by founder Robert Lo, who is a supporter of the sustainable development of the marine environment. Well at the last minute, Lamb, given her background as a marine biologist and conservationist, was the first delegate to represent Belize at the pageant. Well, earlier this week she came to our studios to invite Belizean women to apply and audition for the national pageant which will be held in July.

“I am here to invite our females, who are scuba divers or good swimmers to be a part of this experience.”

“Talk to us about what are the requirements.”

Monique Lamb

“The requirements: well of course there is a height limit. You must be over five feet three inches and you must be able to swim and being able to scuba dive is a plus. So if you are an open water diver that is a major plus for you. You should be able to speak well and know a little about the marine conservation going on in your country.  I was not aware of there was a Miss Scuba Belize going on and hence the reason I am here to let you all know that it is real and is going on and it will go on again. So I got accepted at the eleventh hour, I must say, or I accepted the invitation since there was a Miss Scuba Belize, but unfortunately she could not be able to represent the country in Malaysia and I am independent, not going to school so I was able to take the time off work and represent Belize. I must say it is an experience that I will forever cherish. I got the chance to meet twenty-one different females from different countries, different parts of the world. It was amazing and I must say that we now have a bond that can never break and we are ocean sisters, ocean warriors.”

The deadline for applications is May tenth and forms can be accessed online.
