Leadercast 2019 Hosted in Belize

The conference on leadership has been bringing people together from all over the globe. Leadercast 2019 is being held annually in Atlanta, U.S.A., but it is screened in every corner of the world to allow individuals to participate. The local public and private sector have found that it is a useful tool to grow business as well as breaking barriers and networking. News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

For the fourth consecutive year, a leadership conference was held at the Biltmore Plaza in Belize City.  Leadercast 2019 takes place live in Atlanta, U.S.A. and is being screened at over a hundred locations across the world, including Belize. The conference gives real life experiences and expert advice on best practices that can be used in public and private sector. It’s a forum everyone: from students, to entrepreneurs and even the police department, will find helpful.

“For us, leadership is not a position; leadership is an action. And a lot of time we feel like you need to get to a certain level—you need to be a supervisor, your need to be a manager for you to provide or show leadership qualities; no. We lead our own personal lives. Even if you don’t have children, every single day, you need to make decisions that affect you as a person. So what leadercast does is to bring people together—it is actually live streamed. What we do here is we are showing what’s happening on screen, but we also have interactive conversations where we hone in to Belize. How does it affect us? How are we able to benefit from what it is that is happening somewhere else.”

The speakers touch on various areas from beating the odds and breaking barriers, as well as being goal oriented. Madisco’s General Manager Parveen Williams-Hamilton has attended each year and says that over the years, she has learned how to get employees to perform at their best.

“There’s been a lot of takeaways, but as a leader, you have to continue growing. Managing a company with close to eighty employees is a challenge and so every day you have to grow. You have to adapt to the changes and you have to look at ways to improve every single part of your business: growing your employees, growing your products, growing your costumers. All of that encompasses being a good leader, but we also need guidance and help along the way. As a growing company we do have a great number of millennials in there. So it really teaches you how to deal with them, but also how to work with the more experienced ones in the company. So really how to focus and how to deal with the different personalities because all of this is what makes a business successful.”

Chief Coordination Consultant Trudy Joseph-Swaso says that the event also provides a venue for stakeholders to network.

“It’s not about competition, it is not about age, it is not about anything else but what it is that I can take away; that I can utilize now. We have volunteers that are a part of our team and we also have the leader worth following because again for us, we need to show people what’s leadership. So leader worth following is actually a person that utilizes their own time to give back to the community. And so in a few minutes, we will be offering he leader worth following for 2019.”
