“We’re having sessions and games and workshops that all surround the issue of health. Whether it is healthy living, nutrition, stress management, HIV/AIDS, relationships, and how to work towards a healthy relationship between a man and a woman, even between families. So it’s a different kind of thing we’re looking at. It’s about education and interaction, but it should be a lot of fun. They’re even games all surrounding the issues.
I think we are really stressing on the idea of interactions, we don’t want people to just walk up and look at something, I want somebody to walk up and take part. Whether it’s questions and if you answer correctly you get a pencil, or a cup, or actually take part in a discussion of promiscuity versus fidelity. Body 2000 will be there doing actual physical fitness. They have their aerobics teacher to get some people in shape for the carnival. We have Capasitar, which is a tai chi kind of training, with the National Women’s Commission. B.F.L.A. will be out there doing their S.T.I.’s and their protection. So we have a lot and I just got a bonus too, Cultural Heritage will be out there. All the contestants from last night, they’ll be doing some dancing and I’m very exited about that. I’m glad the carnival band got involve to take part in such a worthwhile issue.”
The health fair takes place at the YWCA, corner Freetown and St. Thomas Street from 2:00 to 5:00 Saturday afternoon.
