Caller Suffers Massive Heart Attack On-Air

Keith Swift

It was not unusual for sixty-seven-year-old Keith Swift to call in and participate in the Wake Up Belize Morning Vibes on Krem Radio.  On Monday morning, the Mosul Street resident did just that and was in the middle of a phone discussion about the two unnamed government ministers who reportedly accepted bribes from Lev Dermen when he suffered a massive heart attack.  His wife told News Five today that she was inside the bedroom reciting her morning prayers and heard Swift on the air conversing.  It was when she no longer heard him talking and instead heard what sounded to her like gurgling, that she left her supplications and went to check on him.  That’s when she observed that he was motionless in his chair with the phone still clutched inside his palm.  She attempted desperately to revive her husband, to no avail.  Swift went into cardiac arrest and passed away on-air.  It is a most unusual incident, the first of its kind during a live broadcast.  Swift lived in the United States for many years where he worked as a technician before returning to Belize twenty years ago.
