New Measures for Utilities and Banking Institutions
Also starting Friday, Michael Peyrefitte says that utility companies will be allowed to operate their cashier service only for persons to pay bills. In addition to that, opening hours for financial institutions will be adjusted, meaning that they will be closed to the public earlier in the day. Here’s how it will work.
Michael Peyrefitte, Attorney General
“Currently, as we speak, B.T.L., B.W.S.L., B.E.L. and Speednet – those storefronts have been closed. The issue is you have people who are anxious to pay their bills but not everybody can do it online and not everybody has the ability to go to a different place of business to pay for another utility because it is too crowded sometimes. So, beginning like Friday, from eight a.m. to four p.m., B.T.L., B.E.L. B.W.S. and Speednet, these places will be opening up their storefronts so people can pay their bills only. So, you can go to the utility companies just to pay your bills. So, only the cashier will be open. It won’t be open for business – customer service and the like – you have to do that on the phone. Just to pay your bills so people can be on time with their bills and no computer glitch would cut out water or light or phone. You will be able to physically go there from eight a.m. to four p.m. to pay your bills. Currently as the law stands, the banks and financial intuitions are open from eight to twelve but beginning like Friday, and I guess it will be like next week so for the banks primarily. The banks will now be open from eight am to four p.m. That’s not the law now but that will be the law around Friday.”
