Bowen & Bowen Making Almost Half-a-Mil Donation in Fight Against COVID-19

Bowen and Bowen Limited and Companies are making a half a million-dollar donation to the Ministry of Health to assist in the fight against COVID-19. Since March, when there was the impending threat of the novel coronavirus, the company had pledged to assist the government, but there have been delays in getting eight ventilators among other medical supplies, including surgical masks and personal protective equipment in country. Today, C.E.O., Michael Bowen had an online interview with the press where he announced that a first set of supplies, specifically twenty hospital beds with mattresses and five thousand surgical masks will be handed over to the Ministry of Health.

“What we have right now is twenty hospital beds and the five thousand facemasks that are arriving and will be delivered this week. And then on May eighth and May fifteenth is the eight ventilators, the ten thousand COVID-19 tests and then as well as the P.P.E.s the facemasks and the bodysuits with boots.”

“How are you sure that these meet the standards that the Ministry of Health requires and needs?”

Michael Bowen

“So when we contacted the vendors, we got the specifications of each of the items. We shared those specifications with the DHS and the Ministry of Health of them to verify that these items were meeting the standard that they require.  Like all the businesses in Belize, we are facing a significant reduction in earnings due to the COVID-19 crisis. And when it comes to a donation like this, it is part of our business plan and mission statement of pursuing excellence for a stronger Belize. So for us to have a strong Belize is the only way we can have a strong company. And for us to be able to donate this with the support of our twelve hundred plus employees is where this is coming from. It’s for the support of Belizeans and even though the regulations is being lifted up and some of the restrictions are eased, if none of these items are actually used for a COVID-19 patient, even better. But nevertheless, they are all still available for future use and the improvement of the Belizean healthcare system into the future.”
