An Update on Viral Swabs Procurement
According to Doctor Marvin Manzanero, viral swabs that have been ordered for some time should be in the country by now. This along with the reactions donated by the Pan American Health Organization will make it possible for fourteen thousand more tests to be carried out.
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
“Our swabs because we had a little bit of delay because they did not arrive on the flight on Saturday they should have arrived or arriving on the flight today. The ventilators that are pending to come in also arrived via ship. They did not come through the usual route of the plane so that is something that is positive for our end. The reagents that Bowen and Bowen are donating have not arrived. They are arriving in May. This is not necessarily things that are easy or difficult to get. You have to deal with the logistic of how it gets here but you also have to deal with the fact that these are items that are on the wait list from the production companies that all countries are buying from. So it is not only a question of finances. As is, we would have the ability to with the reactions from PAHO—they are donating a total of fourteen thousand-so that would give you an idea that you can potentially test up to fourteen thousand people.”
