Health Officials Say French Nationals, Who Were Out at Sea, Are of No Interest

Doctor Marvin Manzanero also spoke of French nationals who were out at sea for the past month. Since they had not come in contact with anyone from the affected countries, they are not of interest to the Ministry of Health.

“I am aware of a couple of French nationals who had apparently been off the coast of Belize for more than a month and decided to come on land. That was informed to us earlier today because that routine you do is that anybody that is caught illegally somebody from health has to go and do an initial assessment to do a swab or not. So we are routinely informed. I was not aware of that particular case yesterday.”

“In terms of those French nationals, how many of them where there?”

“I was told that there were two but they were already checked but they have not been in contact with anybody for the last twenty-eight days so those will not be case at least for the health interest.”

“So they won’t be in self isolation or quarantine?”

“They were already twenty-eight days off the coast just sitting there virtually on a boat, not for COVID-19.”
