COVID-19 Infographic Explained
The Ministry of Health has carried out one thousand one hundred and fifty-nine COVID-19 tests. That’s the figure on Thursday’s infographics which provides a quick overview of Belize’s COVID-19 situation. When he appeared on today’s live webcast of Ask the Experts, Director of Health Services Dr. Marvin Manzanero broke down those numbers.

“Up to yesterday’s information we had done a total of one thousand one hundred and fifty nine tests and when you sum that up you will notice that there is eighteen positives and if you add the positives and the negatives, there is a difference of ten. If you have been following the infographics on a daily basis you note that we had six before and it went to ten. Our math is not wrong. The reason we have to explain that is because people who tested positive as you would know, before you can be determined to be a fully recovered person you would have to be screened again. When we run a test again a second time on at least ten of these persons, they turned out to be positive. So, that is where the difference of ten arises but you don’t count them as positive cases twice. So, that is where the difference often comes about. We are talking of a total number of tests done, not total number of people.”
