Five Belizeans on Cruise Ship Repatriated to the Country
Another group of Belizeans returned to the country early this morning via a cruise ship. The vessel docked at around seven o’clock off the coast of the Old Capital. The group of five was swabbed, samples collected and they were then placed under mandatory quarantine for the next fourteen days. Closer to the fourteenth day, they will be tested once more. According to the Director of Health Services Doctor Marvin Manzanero, six hundred applications for repatriation have been received. So far, seventy-nine persons have returned and as that number increases the possibility of another positive COVID-19 case is more likely.
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
“As far as I know it is five people that were expected to arrive. I don’t have any other particulars other than they would have arrived, be swabbed and those samples be processed tomorrow and basically start their quarantine period effective today. We don’t have any other note of anyone else coming from the cruise ship. We are anticipating more people to come through the land border, and through the airport. The last check is ninety seven Belizeans have been repatriated back home.”

“As more Belizeans get that approval t return to the country is it expected that the number of positive COVID-19 cases may increase as we go along?”
Dr. Marvin Manzanero
“Once we go through our repatriation process that allows you to go through the adequate mechanisms that has been established, following the new protocols, I don’t think that should be a concern.”
