Marvin Manzanero

And now we get an update on that hospitalized person who was transferred from Belmopan to Belize City at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The patient is an elderly woman and is in respiratory distress.  At this time, her situation is described as a critical as she requires ventilation support. Doctor Marvin Manzanero tells us more about this patient’s case.

Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services

“In terms of what has happened with hospitalized patients, we still have one patient hospitalized at the northern regional hospital and the patient that was at the Western Regional Hospital. From yesterday we had been made aware that she had been having progressive respiratory distress because we have been asked how comes the patient is not being managed in Western Regional. Well, we don’t have a ventilation system – we have a non-invasive ventilator at Western Regional but because it was anticipated that she would require ventilation support she has been transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. She is critically ill and in respiratory distress. So, we have one patient admitted now in the I.C.U. at K.H.M.H.”
