Ventilator Training for Medical Staff at Western Regional Hospital

Also at the Western Regional Hospital, a refresher course is ongoing for medical staff on the use of the critical equipment used on persons who have difficulty breathing on their own after contracting the corona virus.  Respiratory complications are among the severe conditions of the COVID-19 disease. Doctor Javier Zuniga explains the importance of the training at this time.

“This has been organized by the Ministry of Health headquarters and it is basically a training for specialists. So internal medicine specialist, paediatric specialists, anaesthesiologist, who use these types of machines. So that is the training that is ongoing at the moment; it is basically a refresher course because most of these specialists did do this during their speciality. So basically that is what is happening.”
