4 More Health Staff Test Positive
Over a dozen healthcare workers have contracted COVID-19; in the most recent results, at least four health staff tested positive: two nurses, a lab technician and an x-ray technician. At the K.H.M.H., a doctor tested positive among samples on Wednesday. Tonight, the hospital is in emergency mode and there is a lingering fear that the numbers at the facility can escalate since others were exposed to the doctor. Three medical staff members are also currently in isolation. The K.H.M.H. today sent out a memo informing that a number of services are being suspended as a precautionary measure. Specialized Outpatient Services and Elective Surgery are on pause beginning today to limit contact with the K.H.M.H staff and patients. Those persons who had appointment for services in both areas will be rescheduled to a later date. At this time, there are two COVID-19-19 patients hospitalized at the national referral hospital. On Tuesday, an elderly nurse was transferred to the hospital from Belmopan when her conditioned turned for the worse. This morning, a diabetic patient from San Pedro, well-known in the community, was also flown in to the national referral hospital. Both are in the isolation unit of the K.H.M.H.
