Is There a Link between the 60 New Cases and Other Previously Diagnosed Patients
And while those are ten new cases this afternoon, on Thursday night sixty more positive tests were confirmed. A majority of the cases are recorded in the Orange Walk, Corozal and Belize District – with the cases concentrated in Belize City. Doctor Marvin Manzanero says that in this batch there are links to previous case.
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
“There are sixty positives out of a hundred and seventy-two. One case in Independence – five of those cases are in personnel who had been working on a tug boat between here and Honduras; the other case was in a child whose mom was previously diagnosed positive. We have three cases in Belmopan from previously contact tracing notes. We normally classify them based on where they are swabbed. Four cases had been swabbed in the San Ignacio Community Hospital but none of those are actually in the twin towns; two are from Succotz and one is in Duck Run One. Twelve cases in Corozal yesterday; sixteen cases in Belize City and we are told now that these cases are not necessarily linked to San Pedro cases. We are starting to find that some cases in Belize City don’t have any established link; twenty-three cases are in Orange Walk in villages that had previously identified cases such as San Felipe; Guinea Grass and San Pablo.”
