Iris Barillas’ Caregiver Describes Her Hospital Visit in Belmopan
Late this evening, News Five spoke with Iris Barillas’ caregiver and family friend. She explained how it came about that Barillas and her husband ended up at the Belmopan Medical Center where staff members have been tested positive for the virus. According to Jones, the elderly couple was taken to the facility by her adopted daughter for a general checkup since she was experiencing complications and had to be placed on an E.K.G. machine. The family believes that that’s where their loved ones contracted the virus.

“She decided to tell her what she was going through and the daughter decided to take her to this private facility in Belmopan which is Belmopan Medical Center for a checkup. She took her there like two weeks ago and they did the ear exams and everything and she was okay on that part and because she was okay, she also took her dad which is her grandfather/father, if you’re following, so that both of them can get a general checkup. We’re already at the doctor so let’s do everything. We’re at a senior age so let’s do everything and that’s where they found out that she, she hooked up to the E.K.G. and everything and the results weren’t well so she had to do follow-ups and examinations and stuff and that’s where they found out that they have to do further tests to see if she’s going to need a pacemaker because her heart results did not come out well and that’s where it all started. Her first visit there was about two weeks ago. I think it would have been like the twenty-seventh and then her second visit there was last Thursday.”
